Hula Hoop Fun

Yesterday we went out in the sun with our buddy class. We all had a hula hoop and were showing each other the cool tricks we could do.

Some Room 13 children were so good at doing the hula hoop and so they were teaching Miss Stulhmann and Miss Bycroft how to do it!

We had a lot of fun!

We Went to The Auckland Zoo!

On Thursday the Koru Whanau went to The Auckland Zoo.

We were so excited to see the tuatara and the kiwi as we had learned lots about them in class before the trip.
We all did lots of walking and searching for the animals that were trying to hide from us. 
We loved the zoo!

Book Character Day

In the last week of Term 3, Sunnyhills celebrated Literacy Week. 

At the end of the week we had a Book Character Parade. Here is a photo of us in our amazing costumes.

Literacy Week was so much fun!

Drawing Shapes

This week for buddy class we went outside with some chalk and drew some shapes. 

Our big buddies helped us write the names of the shapes as well. 

We had a wonderful time drawing on the concrete!

Buddy Class Fun!

Last Friday we spent some time practising our large ball skills. 

We got together with our buddies and tried to throw, catch, kick and bounce the balls.

Our big buddies were such good helpers and we had so much fun!

Buddy Class Science Experiment

This week for buddy class we went to Room 6 to watch them do a science experiment. 

They put skittles around the edge of a bowl and then added water. We were so amazed at how all the colours went into the middle of the bowl. 

After that, we all read one of our books to our buddies. 

What a fun Friday we had with our buddies!

Koru Whanau Disco

On Friday we had the Koru Whanau disco. 

We had so much fun dancing along to all the songs. 

Room 13 had some fantastic dance moves!

Fine Motor Friday

On Friday we spent the afternoon practising our fine motor skills. We do this to help make the muscles in our fingers and hands nice and strong which helps with Writing, drawing and many other daily activities. 

To do this we had to use tongs or pegs to pick up and move small objects, we threaded string through little holes, we joined paper clips together to make a long line, we used cotton buds to paint dots and we played with playdough. 

Room 13 had so much fun. We want to do this all the time!

Buddy Class with Room 6

This term we had our first buddy class with Room 6. We all got matched up with a buddy and spent some time getting to know each other. 

We then chose a colouring page each and talked to each other while we were colouring. 

Our big buddies did such a good job of looking after us and getting to know us!

Our Lucky Last Day!

Room 13 had an awesome last day of Term 2! 

Jerry received the Self Belief Principal's Award. Well done Jerry!

We found out that Room 13 raised the most money in the Koru whanau for the Wheelathon so we all got given a special prize which was very exciting!

Harry got a prize for raising over $200 and Jackson raised over $100! 

We also ended up winning the class award and Arta and Miranda got to stand up the front and hold up the trophy. Go us!

Certificates

On Friday, Iyra and Callum both received certificates for all the effort they have been putting into their learning. Well done!

Jammies in June

On Thursday we had Jammies in June day so we all came to school in our pyjamas!

Sunnyhills collected over 300 pairs of pyjamas and raised $1255.50 for Middlemore Hospital. What a fantastic effort from the Sunnyhills community!

Certificates

This week William and Elsa received certificates. 

They have both been working hard towards their goals. 

Well done to both of you!

Kelly Sports

On Monday we had our first session with Kelly Sports. 

We played some fun games and we learnt a bit about running. 

We now know that using our arms to help us run is much easier than running with them behind our backs!

Bubbles!

Our poem this week was called 5 Little Bubbles so on Wednesday we went out onto the field and played with bubbles! 

We were running and jumping trying to pop all the bubbles. 

After that we went back and wrote a story about playing with the bubbles outside. 
These will be up in the classroom next week. 

Oral Language - Brown Bags

This week all the children in Room 13 brought in five items that were special to them. 

Each day we have been practising our oral language skills by speaking to each other about our special item.

We used our listening skills by making sure we were looking at our partner and some of us even asked some questions. 

We did a wonderful job at sharing our items! 

Maths Games

This week we had a go at playing some Maths games. We had to count, recognise and order numbers and use dice.
